About the Course
The pathway of Abstraction is interesting for artists who enjoy considering colour, shapes and design as an important component of the visual tableaux. Abstract Art is over 150 years old. I will introduce a brief history on Abstraction and offer each of you possible ways to create abstraction for the most effective results. Also, to enable you to continue working at home, following this course.
Part 1
The Sky – The sky is a moving and constant changing atmosphere where the student is challenged to consider rapidly changing colour, shapes and atmosphere at various times of the day, including sunset and sunrise. The British artists Constable and Turner were able to evoke a relationship with nature and painting on canvas, or paper.
Part 2
The land – We will study structural compositions, considering cubism, still life and architecture. Also geometric forms, and looking at positive and negative space. It is important to the understanding of abstraction that students comprehend the relationship with colour and shape as non-representative.
Part 3
Bringing Parts 1 and 2 together – a visionary experience to create a new artistic beginning for yourself, and as a pathway to Abstracting Landscape.
This course is designed to improve your skill level, and encourage innovation. I look forward to teaching you something new and exciting.
