CLASS REPORT
Basic drawing fundamentals is an essential part of art and always a good thing to revisit for those of us who have! Drawing is pivotal for artists, a benchmark and tool of creative exploration that informs visual discovery. Gisha, well versed and a veteran in this skill, gently walked us thru a number of challenges. Using the beautiful simple mediums of graphite and charcoal, we started with objects relationship to each other, a stool (with many too many cut out bits) and jars! Perspective and foreshortening understanding; using a pile of books, boxes and fruit. Next shapes, expressed thru value with bowls and small pots. And then of course ellipses, fruit in the glass bowl. Gishka ‘gleefully’ included lots of little challenges, like crumbled/folded cloth, saying “it will be interesting to see how you work with this!”
I believe we all enjoyed the classes and the sharing our efforts and learning.
