Lorraine Brown has always felt a connection with the art of watercolour. The mediums ability to create unique and unexpected results, its risk and surprise, were special and attractive qualities to the artist; who found risk and surprise at every turn in her creative and professional life. Her expressive works are the product of her desire to story tell and to capture the essence of a subject. Working predominantly in watercolour, Lorraine likes to play with creating texture and that something special, taking risks and going anywhere her imagination might take her. She defines her vivid works as “expressive impressions” a blend of realism and abstraction and is constantly searching for new ways to use her medium. Lorraine tutors weekly classes in Adelaide and holds workshops in both city and regional areas and shares her demos worldwide on her You tube channel. Her paintings are held in private and corporate collections in Australia and overseas.

Course Description
Be Inspired – Exploring the fascinating medium of watercolour. Suitable for both beginners and those wishing to continue building on their skills. Colour theory, composition, texture techniques will all be covered throughout the course.

Course Materials
All subjects can be painted with your own choice of colours but the following choices or similar to include are very useful for this workshop:
Permanent rose
Alizarin Crimson
Burnt Sienna
French Ultra Marine Blue
Cool Blue i.e. Phthalo, or Turquoise
Warm Yellow like New Gamboge, Winsor Yellow
Cool Yellow i.e. Lemon Yellow
Your watercolour kit – include masking fluid, 3 pieces of good quality 100% cotton rag paper A3 size or ¼ sheet of a full sheet. Lorraine uses Saunders Waterford 300gsm cold press available from Art to Art 1 full sheet is about $12
Scraps of watercolour paper (or backs of old painting) for testing
Range of different size brushes.

Course Schedule
3 set subjects will include florals, birds, and animals. Those able to complete a painting each week will have the chance to work on their own choices with guidance by Lorraine as required.
$5 fee is payable to Lorraine for all reference and template printing
